And since there is no longer any oak to buy from Russia since the Ukraine war, we are also competing with the industry when it comes to purchasing. And small shops like us are usually in a bad position.
Since we always say that our furniture is made from local oak, there has to be a lot of transparency: Out of necessity, we bought several oak trunks from Slovenia. A large Hamburg wood dealer put his connections to work - and fortunately informed us. So…. Once across Europe with a fully loaded semi-trailer - but at least we can work and actually got a dream oak tree. Nevertheless, we are of course working to ensure that we will soon use local wood again to make our furniture.
